The Back 40 Story celebrates Archeology Month
In honor of Archeology Month this March, join us for a different spin on our usual Back 40 Story events – an indoor presentation on Ozark Bluff Shelters.
Dr. Mel Zabecki from the University of Arkansas Archeology Survey will give the presentation titled “The Archeology of Northwest Arkansas,” in honor of Arkansas Archeology Month and focusing on archeology from our local area. She will cover sites from both the recent and distant past.
The presentation is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. Friday March 15 at Riordan Hall. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Zabecki is the Education Outreach Coordinator for the Arkansas Archeological Survey and is based out of the Survey’s Coordinating Office in Fayetteville. She works with teachers, students, museums, libraries and other station archeologists all around the state to make archeology more public by giving talks, presenting hands-on activities or teaching others to present these activities to the wider public.
